Bicycle Tattoo: off the shirt onto the skin

This summer I was contacted by someone who purchased one of my Albert Hofmann “Bicycle” tshirts.  It’s a design I created for an event I threw out in San Fransisco in the summer of 2010. The event was called “Bicycle” and was a psychedelic art and music party. The featured artists included myself, Tripp Shealy, Alan Forbes, and Stanley Mouse among others. People loved the bicycle graphic with the fractal of LSD molecules and so when I decided to move forward with creating a full line of t-shirts I wanted it to be included in the first season. The man who contacted me had purchased the shirt and was wanting to know if I would mind if he had the design turned into a tattoo. I loved that he had the respect to ask. I also loved that he wanted to have a piece of my art inked onto his body for the rest of this life time. My response was to send him a high resolution image of the original drawing to make sure the tattoo was exact to my work.

This was early this summer and I had kind of forgotten about it. This past week I received an email with photos of the tattoo! And so I thought I’d share them with you. I’m really happy with the placement and likeness to my original drawing. I’m not sure of the exact shop he went to but the guy lives in Portland OR. I’ll find out and post a link.
