Breast Cancer Awareness Month – free tattoo designs

So I’m a bit late on Breast Cancer Awareness month. It’s actually October but I wanted to do something to recognize the disease this year. My amazing sister in law Mindy was diagnosed with breast cancer this past Spring and a close friend at the end of the summer. It’s a horrible feeling to hear the news about someone you love. Thankfully Mindy caught it early and is doing really well. Unfortunately thats not the case with my friend.

Mindy, my sister in law, is pretty great. Shes just a year older then me and looks fabulous. She has gorgeous red hair (which apparently is growing back splendidly after a summer of chemo) and probably weighs a buck ten sopping wet. I don’t know many people who handle life like she does, two cute and crazy kids, a dog, a husband, top of her career field selling insurance and still has time to have a little side business creating beautiful beaded jewelry. To say Mindy has her act together is putting it mildly. In fact she would be downright intimidating if she wasn’t so genuinely nice. I really lucked out getting her as a sister-in-law, we are very different on the surface with vastly different styles and interests. There was a possibility of just not being able to click but Mindy is so non judgmental, open and kind that our differences have never been an issue. She is always interested in what I’m doing and always has something positive to say. I really love her and am so happy to call her my friend.

LOVE!!!!!!

In September Mindy called looking for a favor. She had decided to celebrate life, turning 40 and getting a clean bill of health this fall by getting a tattoo. I was a bit surprised. Tattoos would be one of the difference in styles I’m talking about. But she wanted a tattoo and asked me if I would draw it for her. I, of course, was honored. She had the idea to add butterfly wings to the pink breast cancer ribbon. The butterfly a symbol of new life. It was a fantastic idea. I drew four different versions and of course she picked the simplest one with hearts on the wings. Mindy is not very flashy and she will be getting just about 1″ x 1″ tattooed version on the back of her neck.

We talked about the other three designs I drew this week and decided together that I should make them available for free download to anyone dealing with breast cancer in their life or the life of someone they love. They can be a symbol of survival, remembrance, fighting the fight or a celebration of life. Please feel free to down load the following images. I did a couple color samples to but it can be fun to add your own colors to personalize them. Please send me pictures if you’d like. I hope you enjoy them and wear them well.

Just click on the image and drag onto your desk top to save.

Health. Love. Happiness to you all.
