Get on Your Bikes and Ride!

Dr. Hofmann is a Swiss scientist who in the 1940′s synthesized the compound lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). After a strange reaction to some of this compound getting on his skin, Dr. Hofmann decided to self experiment with what would be the recommended dosage for reaction to a typical compound (though as it turned out quite a large amount for LSD).

In his own words :

Exercising extreme caution, I began the planned series of experiments with the smallest quantity that could be expected to produce some effect, considering the activity of the ergot alkaloids known at the time: namely, 0.25 mg (mg = milligram = one thousandth of a gram) of lysergic acid diethylamide tartrate.

Quoted below is the entry for this experiment in my laboratory journal of April 19, 1943. The first section contains notes on the production of the tartrate (tartaric acid salt) of LSD.

4/19/43 16:20: 0.5 cc of Vi promil aqueous solution of diethylamide tartrate orally = 0.25 mg tartrate.

Taken diluted with about 10 cc water. Tasteless.

17:00: Beginning dizziness, feeling of anxiety, visual distortions, symptoms of paralysis, desire to laugh.

Supplement of 4/21: Home by bicycle. From 18:00-ca. 20:00 most severe crisis. (See special report.)

“Home by bicycle”.

And then what followed was undoubtedly an extraordinary experience, one that would have terrified most, but Dr. Hofmann saw the intrinsic value in LSD-25.

This shirt, a 1943 Roadster kicking out a swirling fractal of LSD molecules, pays homage to the spirit of Dr. Hofmann. A man who had an idea about something, a hunch and instead of letting it go, moved forward with it, and in doing so brought the ancient tribal concept of the substance assisted spiritual and psychological “trip” into the modern age and made this experience accessible to all.

DESIGN MEANINGS: Awakening

psychedelic trip, lsd trip, consciousness, awakening your mind

When the Mask Comes Off

Psychedelics have been used by societies both ancient and modern. Their use as a tool for tapping into the cosmic consciousness is a global phenomenon. Today their usefulness in the fields of psychological studies are being researched at major institutions including John Hopkins Medical Center and Columbia University. Recorded histories show the use of different mind altering substances in the religious and cultural ceremonies of such influential societies as Hellenistic Greece and Aryan India. Today psychotropic plants still play a part in traditional societies; ayawaska in indigenous South American shamanic rituals and ibogaine in the African spiritual traditions of the Bwiti. In the last century the newly discovered chemical compound lysergic acid diethylamide, otherwise known as LSD,  brought the use of psychedelics into the mainstream and was tied closely to the modern American movement that promoted peace and fought for and won the true freedom of women and African Americans in this country. In the present day people from all races and walks of life are awaking to the possible benefits responsible ingestion of these powerful medicines can bring.

The woman self lactates the mother earth’s milk of psychedelics to the world. When taking psychedelics it rips your consciousness to it’s true core. You are no longer able to keep in place the mask you hold up to the world and you come face to face with your true nature possibly for the first time. For some people who are able to be self aware this has the effect of a conscious awakening, it is a pleasant and enlightening experience. On the left you see the mask come off in this direction, the woman’s third eye is awakening. The Tibetan lotus grows out of the infant skull and the bee, a symbol of Christ consciousness hovers near by.

On the right the tearing of the mask is a painful experience, the woman does not want to face herself and this, I believe, is partly what causes a “bad trip”. The experience, seemingly negative, is not. Out of the infant skull to her right come earth worms which help regenerate our physical bodies into useful matter. A red rose, symbol of true love, grows on a stem of DNA as does the lotus. A spider is a symbol of good luck. Together bees and spiders are immensely important in the functioning of this planet.

DESIGN MEANING: Metatrons

Enoch metatron's cube erin cadigan

Enoch turns into Metatron

The sacred geometry symbol in this design is Metatron’s cube. Inherent in the cube are the five platonic solids. Platonic solids are congurent regular polygons. A regular polygon is a three dimmensional shape whose angles are all the same and whose sides are all equal. What makes them congruent is that their faces are all the same size and shape as well. The five Platonic Solids implied by the two dimensional Metatron’s cube are: Star Tetrahedron, Hexadron (cube), Octahedron, Dodecahedron, and Icosahedron.

The prophet Enoch is seen driving a fiery chariot into the the symbol. Enoch was the great-grandfather of Noah and the seventh generational decendent of Adam and Eve. He is written about in the Biblical book of Genesis and The New Testament as well as in the Book of Enoch, Enoch2 (Slavonic), and in one of the Dead Sea Scrolls known as Enoch 3. It is said in these historic accounts that Enoch never died. According to the records Enoch lived on Earth 365 years and was accended to Heaven with out ever dying. The records state that Enoch accended into Heaven and was returned bodily to Earth on several occassions before the final time he was taken up. The horses and fiery chariot is a reference to the specifics of the prophet Elijah’s ascension as the method of Enochs ascension is never described. The chariot itself is a reference to the “Winged Disk” motif found through out the ancient Middle East.

In Enoch 1 and Enoch 2 it is stated that Enoch was transformed into the angel Metatron before the face of God.  This creates for the Earthly Enoch a heavenly counter-part or twin, making him to be both Enoch and Metatron at once. In both Enoch 2 and Enoch 3 the “face of God” is described as a face of fire, “a glorious brilliance”.  Later Merkabah accounts catagorize Metatron as the Face of God. Medieval Jewish mystical texts refer to Metatron as the scribe of God, an angel of the highest power, who is the only angel allowed to sit in the presence of the Lord. He is seated to the right, behind the throne of God.

“This Enoch whose flesh was turned to flame, his veins to fire, his eyelashes to flashes of lightening, his eye balls to flaming torches and who God placed on a throne next to the throne of glory, recieved after this heavenly transformation the name of Metatron.
